ANGELES CITY, NOW

Angeles City is gaining world fame today as the entertainment capital of the Philippines. It distinguishes itself as one of the fastest-growing cities outside of Metro Manila. It has a most advantageous location, with the quickest access to Clark Freeport Zone and, not an hour away, Subic Freeport Zone, both special economic zones which attract major attention from some of the world’s biggest investors, like Texas Instruments. The city provides an ideal environment for international entrepreneurs not only for the booming nightlife district, but also for the large, highly educated workforce that the city’s universities continue to produce.

Angeles City’s entertainment industry continues to make a huge impact in its economy. The most famous nightlife strip is Fields Avenue, although more and more nightlife zones are blooming all over the city. Now, this humble provincial town has undergone a total transformation with its growing number of bars, upscale girly clubs, discos, KTV bars, live band clubs, etc.

Since Clark Freeport Zone opened to the world market, numerous industrial investors have poured new life and energy into the neighboring metropolis. Now, Clark Freeport Zone is also home to numerous golf courses, recreational parks, casinos, hotels, and other commercial establishments that are frequented by locals and tourists alike.

CLARK AIR BASE & MT. PINATUBO

U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt ordered the establishment of Fort Stotsenberg in Angeles City, which would later become part of the more expansive Clark Air Base. Fields Avenue, a road near the military base, was considered the prime entertainment strip servicing the American GI’s posted in Clark.

On June 15, 1991, the eruption of nearby Mt. Pinatubo resulted in the evacuation of the U.S. military from Clark Air Base. The abandoned base went through a period of neglect, then of cleaning and rapid development, before re-emerging as Clark Special Economic Zone.

THE FUTURE IS IN THE CITY

The economic boom of the entertainment and tourist areas in Balibago, together with the growth of Clark Freeport Zone and its international airport, will result in one of the Philippines’ most dynamic cities.

In view of the rise of the real estate potential in the Balibago area, which is the epicenter of Angeles City’s booming nightlife, Fields Plaza Luxury Condominiums is sure to be the new Iconic building of Angeles City by mid-2010.

Angeles City’s two oldest universities are also gathering acclaim and attention across the country.

Numerous large foreign companies in a variety of industries, ranging from furniture and décor, to manufacturing and electronics, to call centers, have chosen to settle in this city due to its work force and easily-accessible entertainment areas and the favorable business environment in Clark. The on-going development of a high-speed railroad track from Manila to Clark is only bound to improve business traffic in the city. The Clark International Airport, also known as Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA) is vying to be the main international gateway to the Philippines. Currently, it has flights to and from Boracay, Davao, Palawan, and Zambales (within Philippines), as well as Singapore, Korea, and Thailand (outside the country).
Girlzone
ANGELES CITY is a PARTY EVERY DAY of the year and its famed nightlife runs the full spectrum. Although the extravagant girly or go-go bar scene is what particularly makes it exceptional in the world, other establishments such as the numerous discos, live band venues, resto pubs and KTVs make Angeles City a fantastic destination for any kind of nightlife escapade. In general, nights in this city are liveliest during the weekends and quietest on Sundays and Mondays. But worry not, as most all nightlife venues are open all days of the week.

GO-GO or GIRLY BARS

Angeles City is home to over a hundred girly bars ranging from the typical ‘old-school’ go-go bars reminiscent of the old US airbase days to huge upscale multi-storey mega bars such as Club Atlantis, Golden Nile, Love & Music, Forbidden City, Club Asia and Crystal Palace. These multi-storey mega bars are spectacularly designed, with gilded ornaments and extremely fine detail to fit their unique themes. This homage to beauty, more than enhancing the party experience, serves foremost to highlight all the beautiful Filipina women that fill up these establishments. Along Perimeter Road, you’ll find the ‘DAYTIME BARS’ which are at their liveliest during the afternoon. Most of the best ‘NIGHT-TIME BARS’ are at Fields Avenue.

Must-See Bars: Atlantis, Crystal Palace, Forbidden City, Golden Nile, Club Asia, Love & Music

Other Popular Bars: La Pasha, Camelot, Lancelot, Eruptions, Genesis

THE CLUBBING SCENE

Angeles City is home to a few notable disco clubs which only start to fill up at around midnight. Within the Fields Avenue area, SKYTRAXX DISCO is packed and lively every night of the week with tourists and local ladies partying to techno, old-school house and R&B.

Super-club THE MANSION is a multi-storey, ultra-stylish club which attracts the upper crust of the city’s rich and elite, as well as models based in Pampanga. It’s located 10-15 minutes from the city’s main nightlife zone and opens on Fridays and Saturdays. Being a sister club of the famous Encore (formerly Embassy) in Manila, and with socialite and media celebrity Tim Yap as your host, The Mansion is a definite must-visit. VIP tables start from around Php3000 – Php7000 with the top floor VIP-only section tables at Php10,000.
Must-See Clubs: The Mansion, Skytraxx

Club Mix is a newly opened disco on the Fields Avenue strip situated inside the Fields Plaza entertainment complex. VIP tables start from P4,000. Music is a mix of mainly R&B and some house music.

LIVE BAND DISCO VENUES

Most live band venues are considered discos, with a live band instead of a DJ playing R&B tracks on a mixer.

THE COURTYARD entertainment complex houses over a dozen resto pubs lined up on either side of the covered court where a live band plays every night of the week.

CLUB R&B and CLUB BOSSA are two large live-band discos with customers partying non-stop to R&B live band performances. Each venue has over a 200-person seating capacity.

Other smaller live band venues include HAWAII and BALI HAI which, although plain in appearance, has a great band playing on Thursdays and Sundays.

Must-See Venues: Club R&B, Club Bossa, H-Rock

RESTO PUBS

THE INTERNATIONAL is the largest Irish-style resto pub in town, attached to a poker club located near Fields Avenue. They play live music on certain nights.

PARADISE BEER GARDEN is a cozy outdoor beer bar which also serves good food at reasonable prices, located in the Fields Plaza Entertainment complex.

BRUNO & DIEGO GRILL is another cozy hangout with great food and ambiance to go with your beer.

Must-See Pubs: The International, Paradise Beer Garden

KTV BARS

There are two types of KTVs: those where you just rent a KTV room to sing along with friends and family, and those where you can ‘table’ beautiful ladies and have the option to bring them to a KTV room to mingle and sing.

For the latter, visit PINK LADY or JULIANA just off of Fields Avenue or the second floors of LOVE & MUSIC and CLUB ASIA within Fields Ave. For the 'regular' KTVs, visit the second floor of The Courtyard entertainment complex. The KTV bars have great food and ambiance for small parties, and they tend to be jam-packed on Fridays and Saturdays. Spencer's, located at Savers' Mall along MacArthur Highway, Balibago is also a great KTV place with Japanese cuisine. Dozens of KTV bars and stalls also line the streets branching off from Fields Avenue, such as The Wishing Well.

Must-See KTVs: Pink Lady, The Courtyard 2nd floor
